Dear Ben and All –

I am just sitting around twiddling my thumb, so I will write you a few lines got your letter yesterday was looking for a letter from you for a could of days yet.

I have to go on guard at 12:00 midnight to 4:00 so all I have to do until then is sleep, read or write I will send you some pictures of me and some of our half track. When we guard we sit in them with the top off. Have a machine gun, and two Thompson sub machine guns don’t do anything but sit on our hind-end, “mine is sore from sitting so much” Just watch for enemy airplain and any body that shouldn’t be around. gets awful tiresome. But I guess its better than
being in battle.

The other two fellows in those picture are from Calif L.A. That one with me by the half track W 4013924 lives near Sylvia in Whittier his folks moved there
since he has been in the army so he doesn’t know much about Whittier he is a Corp. The one with the over coat lives in down town L.A. He is going out on guard that is they way we dress for guard. That W-4013924 is the one I drive. One night we drove about 10 miles in black out and raining [unreadable] and driving throu a woods it sure was hell to see I never looked so hard in all my life. Just a night problem.

I wonder how in heck T/Furner get to come home so often?

I got rid of my cold long ago. Feel very good again.

The chickens are bring you good money this winter aren’t they. Ha. Ha. I’ll bet Walter [Balengak] will have one hell of a time the army for the first couple of week.

Yesterday we took our third dipptheria shot. That makes six of those we had. Two Vaccination. My second one didn’t work. Altogether I had 12 shots. Now I don’t mine taking them half as much as first. So your getting the wood pretty well up. I’ll bet the pile is crooked since I am not there to pile it. ha. Nearly time to put ham in the smoke house ha.

Another fellow saw in the paper that we wont have to pay tax till after the war he has to pay too. So I guess we wont send it in. It’s 4:00 here so I suppose you are milking about know.

Well good bye until next time.

P.S. Are you going to listen to the fight Fri? Felix
