Dear Ann
We are still on the alert here, have been since week ago last Fri. I don’t know how much longer we will be on one some one thought it will last till about the 15th. Boy I sure hope it doesn’t last too much longer. you sure can get a belly full of this army in a hurry when they keep you pent up in the area about the farthest we can go is to the show about three blocks from the Barracks. Most of the fellows spent there off time at the P.X. drinking 3.2 beer. We have to wear our gas mask every where we go even when we go to chow.
Well we have a radio here again it makes it so much better. Yesterday afternoon we didn’t have to do any thing so I sent to the P.X. and had a few beers come back about 6:00 I ate supper then 6:30 nearly everybody was gone the barracks was nearly empty only one other fellow was here so I turned on the radio I just hit the last three songs on the hit parade the time here is so much different from back home I still don’t no wen the programs come on number one was don’t sit under the apple tree with any one else but me. I like it “do you?”
Well right after that guy Lombardo come on the air he play so nice by that time. I laid down and nearly went to sleep then some other orchestra come on and that was good too then they turned all the radios off the air they do that quite often here lately just why I don’t no but on some account of the war do they ever cut them off back home?
about the tires I guess its ok. I won’t be able to use my car for some time yet. The only time I would like to use it if we should get a furlough but by the way things look there is no use worrying about a furlough. When and if I get home I sure am going to make whoppy to make up for this. You can use your own judgement either pay for them or get me some when I need them. I am not going to worry any.
Its been pretty warm here the last couple of days. it don’t seem to get quite as warm here as it does back home it seems to hang around 60 and 70 degrees most of the time.
Cora said she had such a good time Decoration day. I was glad she got to go to the cemetery. I was thinking it would seem funny Ma not being able to go with you. She always used to get ready so early then got after me to hurry.
Say I have those sorta light gray pants I never did like them very well so if they fit any one they can have them either Ben Rich or Jack or Lee who ever you think wants them they are summer pants so they could make use of them
That too bad Sammy R didn’t know I was here I would have liked to seen her.
I never got that paper with my picture in some times the paper comes every day then again I don’t get any for about 3 day. Then I get them all at once and a couple I didn’t get at all but I still enjoy getting it.
I’ll send 10 dollars home again and let you put it in the bank. first I didn’t think I could spare it this month but now that we can’t go any where I think I’ll have enough to last.
It’s dinner time so good bye. Felix
